BBC Beechgrove Garden crew filming installation of Awakening

What a great project to be involved with. I was invited to develop two sculptures for the Y - People community garden at Branston Court in Glasgow. The residents asked if one of the sculptures could be based on the Y People logo, so I developed an abstracted design ' fig 1 ' that would represent the ethos of the organisation and complement the overall garden design.

With the second sculpture I wanted to create an organic form based on a leaf opening out. The form opening or awakening represents the aspirations of the Y People community to grow and develop. This sculpture was made using over one thousand small metal rods drawing on the organic cell structures found in nature.

The sculptures are to be offically unveiled on Monday 12th Sept 2011 by the Lord Provost of Glasgow.
