Cuningar Loop Woodland Park - Glasgow 2014

I'm really delighted to have been selected for a four month Artists Residency funded by Creative Scotland to develop designs for public art interventions for this new 14 hectare park in the east end of Glasgow. The park is part of the Commonwealth Games Legacy and will be linked with a new bridge to the new Athletes Village now under construction. It's fantastic to be involved in this project and I have started researching for the project.

More information of this new project on my new blog site  : http://cuningarloop.wordpress.com

Clients : Forestry Commission Scotland, Clyde Gateway and South Lanarkshire Council

Landmark sculpture design commissioned for the entrance to Cuningar Loop

The new sculpture will form the entrance to the new Woodland Park in Glasgow. This amazing project , managed by Forestry Commission Scotland will see the transforamtion of 15 hectares of derlict land into a vibrant recreation area for the city.

Rob has been working on the project over the past year with close involvement from the local communities, several youth volunteers will help deliver the project and gain a valuable insight into the porcess and practical skills involved in creating Public Art. The new sculpture will be installed in August for the opening of the Park.

Design approved for new courtyard sculpture for Wishaw Health Centre,  informed by discussions with local groups and a series of art workshops with pupils from Wishaw Academy Primary School.

The sculpture represents aspects of the industrial heritage of the area, in particular the strip steel industry. The coiled steel sections emerge from the ground and slowly transform, morphing as they ascend into organic forms. This flowing transition represents the changes that have taken place in the area in recent times and conveys the physical and emotional sense of wellbeing, being unburned and free to drift beyond the confines and constraints of a physical space.

Work has now commenced on the sculpture and will be installed in the new purpose built building in early August 2015
